Jeong Yakyong (????? 1762-1836

This memorial statue to Jeong Yakyong (????? is located on Namsan Mountain (???). Jeong Yakyong was a bit of a "renaissance man" in Korea, publishing hundreds of books, developing methods for building palaces and fortifications, and designing Hwaseong Fortress (????? in Suwon.

But perhaps he went to far when he tried to prevent Korea's future drinking problem by suggesting to the King that distillers be taken away from the common people because they weren't saving enough rice to eat. Apparently people would rather be blitzed off soju (???) than satiated... a trend that continues today.
