Luminaire Festival

Throughout December and January the "Luminaire Festival" took place downtown. I found out about it through the event links I keep on the rightside tool bar here on my website. Anyway, I had planned to visit their earlier, but the Korean language part of the site that I checked said that the last day was January 3rd, whereas the English information said it was January 31st. Since most things written in English here are full of errors, I figured it was over... Wrong. I took these photos last weekend.

This was in front of the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts (??????). I'm actually headed back there tonight to see a musical with Una, which in her text message was called "?????????". Which translates into "Notre Dame We Cop Jew". Ok, looks like only the first part is Konglish. Looking at Sejong Center's website the name in English is "Nortre Dame of Paris".

An ice rink was set up for winter in front of City Hall (???). They had everything you'd need, skates, lockers, and.... helmets! Wait a minute. Helmets?! That's just ridiculous. But I guess not as ricidulous as the music they were playing when I was there, UNCENSORED Eminem. "The way you shake it, I cannot believe it, I ain't never seen an ass like that..." Funny, but not as memorable as one particular McDonald's I came across when I first arrived in Korea. They were pumping Dr. Dre through loud speakers at the front door. I actually paused and waited for "motherfucker I got five on the twenty sack," just to make sure it was authentic.

Down at Cheonggyecheon Stream (???????? they had more lights, and even more people.

Really like that last one with the stream.

We have one of those light shows down here on Jeju as well, but I'm guessing it's not *quite* as large.

And we certainly don't have any ice rinks. Or Eminemenem pumping through the speakers.

Ha ha ha, wait till you hear some of the music they played at breakfast in a 4 star hotel I stayed in once in Pusan.

They had DMX on, and it was "f*** this..." and "f*** that..." all the way.

What an awsome way to start the day.

LOL! I'm thinking whoever picked DMX at that 4-star hotel has got to have one helluva TOEIC score.

The original version is actually called 'The Hunchback of Notre Dame' which is a famous novel/movie.
Kids in Korea love eminem but they don't understand a single ting he says they just enjoy the beats so I don't see the problem. Even if you speak fair amount of English, it's hard to comprehend what eminem is going on about when he says 'The way you move ityou make my pee pee go
Doingdoingdoing"
I mean who would notice if someone played explicit Indonesian music in the states apart from the indonesians.

Stunning. I've seen night festivals before but this is amazing.

Jay Lee's got a point about the music... Don't think I'm complaining, I think it's fanfuckingtastic! But it always suprises me.
