I Just got a copy of Alien Skin's Xentotype 2 plug-in for Photoshop. Among other things, it allows you to generate clouds. The default the sky was a rather artifical blue, but since that'd be too fake to use in this photo, I've added the most realistic clouds I would have expected to see. Of course, this is my first trial with this program, but I think I'll be using it a lot now since Seoul's skyline is often gray.
Although, comparing the two photos now, I think I prefer the original below with the added lavender gradient. The building has a much sharper contrast with the sky.
The traditional building at the bottom is the 1902 "Memorial to Emperor Gojang's Enthronement and Adoption of the Imperial System".
In the back we have the Kyobo Life Insurance (?????) building at Gwanghwamun (?????.

The name of that memorial...it's a mouthful. Long, convoluted names to things - I've seen that here a bit.
The picture works well. Not just another traditional building - the Kyobo building in the background makes it. Would love to see it with a nicely colored sky, but that might be asking too much from Seoul, huh?
You really take some great pics. What type of camera are you using?
G: This photo inspired a downloading flurry of photoshop plugins to do something about the lacking sky. Although now I have excessive-plugin paralysis and haven't even installed a single one. I did as a slight color gradient to this photo though, because it was totally GRAY before.
Simon: I use two cameras. One is a pocketable Canon that goes just about everywhere with me. The other is a Canon 350D, which was used for this photo with an ultrawide Sigma 10-20mm lens (set at 10mm in this photo).
That name IS a mouthful!
The clouds generated looks a bit 'manufactured'... maybe it's the blue that looks out of place with the rest of the colors.
Ahh...plugins - thank God I haven't got started on those yet. Who knows where it would end?
Very cool that you tried adding in the sky, and I think it came out well, though, in the end, I agree with you - the Kyobo building stands out much more in the original. Again, really a great photo.
I never take that photo despite walking past it all the time cos I don't have a lens wide enough. Nice job innit!
