Roller Cops

I was over in Yeouido on Saturday for the Cherry Blossom Festival when this scene caught my eye, but apparently there's police all over the world patrolling on inline skates.  As you can see, Seoul cops aren't overweight donut munchers.  Most of the police force is 19-years-old-or-so conscripts doing their mandatory national service.  You can tell that they're having fun, and I'm sure this beats the military service option.

It's gotta be hilarious watching them in a high speed chase.

You know what's funny? Those guys are surprisingly polite! They escorted a very drunk dancing man away from the scene of one of the performances when I was there in Yeouido, and they were so polite and courteous to him, I was impressed.

Jesus, they look like a bunch of frickin' school kids. Pretty funny.

I wonder what the pre-reqs are for this type of duty? Do they have to take a course of some sort? There's got to be at least a test...
