Egret at Maruyama Park

Strolling along through the Higashiyama Area of Kyoto, I entered Maruyama Park, famous for it's cherry blossoms. More interesting was this preening Egret perched high up.

What lens did you use for this?

I've been trying to get similar shots but have failed each time, due to my longest lens being 150mm. Currently thinking of either getting a long, pricey prime or a pricey zoom.

As an aside, one of my marginal pics of a very similar bird I IDed as a heron. Just looking up the differences between herons and egrets, and it seems that there are few, if any at all.

I really like this one...
