After a six-week hiatus I figured that I should post something to let it be known that everything is going fine and that I'm still in Seoul. I've just lost most interest in this website lately, but I assure you that there will be a very nice update in January after I get back from my next trip outside of Korea.
Anyway, I went to YongPyong Resort for skiing over the weekend. It was my first time there--and it was beautiful. The snow base was small so conditions weren't that great for snow boarding, but the weather was clear without nearly no wind.
That's all for now as I've got to run out to celebrate 2007. Happy New Year!
There's a rather long gondola ride you can take up to the top of the resort with several options for going back down. The intermediate run called "Rainbow Paradise" is the most popular choice. Easily one of the longest runs I've been on, it's also one of the narrowest given the amount of traffic on it. I'm not an expert, so I like a lot a room and not having to worry too much about people flying down the hill--and that's where Rainbow Paradise didn't live up to its name. I had to go down the hill cautiously, and as it was the afternoon of my second day at the resort, I made a lot of stops along the way But still my legs became more tired and started to cramp up. I was always dodging people who thought they had control, and once while resting on the median someone skiied right into my back, fortunately slowly. So I grew to resent the so-called Rainbow Paradise, and by the time I had reached the bottom I'd renamed it Yellow Hell.

Welcome back, Max. I missed your photos and commentary.
It's too bad you didn't have an awesome time on the slopes, but I hope the scenery helped make up for it! It looks beautiful!
