Seoul Auto Salon 2007

As promised, here's the results of my Thursday trip to the Seoul Auto Salon 2007... don't expect to see any cars! :D

This next photo shows just what kind of Sausage Party this show actually is.

With that many photographers it's a real bitch to get good shots. Keep in mind that this photo was taken on Thursday, the opening day of the show. At that time for each hot model there were 20-50 photographers. On Saturday and Sunday there could have been about 100 photographers per model.

Please note that hotlinking to my images is not allowed (in fact, it won't work, an anti-hotlink photo will be displayed instead). But feel free to post the link or upload them elsewhere so long as my watermark remains intact and you post your link in the comments below.

If you've enjoyed these photos then I'd appreciate if you would leave a comment below--it's what inspires me to put these photos up. Thank you!

Thanks for the pictures! Are we actually going to see some cars this time? :)

Just wondering, do you know how much these girls make?

Ok, opening text changed to reflect that there won't be any photos of cars. In fact, this post is all I'm putting up from the show. It's the best 5%.

Anyway, I'm far from alone in not taking photos of the cars. Cars without models were ignored by 99% of the other photographers. Many guys were walking around with thousand-dollar pro 70-200mm zoom lenses--which is ridiculous unless all you want are tightly cropped portraits or single parts of the face. At this show my 28-75mm f/2.8 Tamron zoom worked best, was a fraction of the price of those huge heavy white barrel zooms, and delivered quality results. I do have one of those white barrel zooms too, but I left it at home where it belonged!

Max, great photos. I'm looking at them from Kabul and there is NOTHING here that comes close. Thank you!

I thought hotlinking was a good thing?

I enjoyed the photos! =D
Who knows next year I'll be there! =)
Max, you're a good photographer! hehe!

What kind of Canon do you shoot with?

I'm wondering if the 28-75mm f/2.8 Tamron would be a good lens to replace the kit lens that came with my Canon Rebel XTi (400D).

must be a few billion won worth of plastic surgery there

Great shots and gorgeous women. Nice work!

Do you use any on-camera lighting? (Flash or speedlight?) Or does the venue provide enough light?

lao-ocean-girl: The Tamron 28-75 f/2.8 is an amazing lens, but it's not the best replacement for the oh-my-god-it's-such-a-piece-of-crap kit lens that Canon uses. But the Tamron 17-50 f/2.8 is a good choice. I just bought one and tested it out at the show too. I like both lenses and will keep both (I also have a Sigma 10-20mm for wide landscapes, like that fireworks shot below). It's just all about the right lens for the right application. Many consider the 16-50 to be a good general purpose lens.

someguyinkorea: See the catchlights in the models eyes? That's from the Canon 580EX flash. I recall that my shots from last year's show were done with only on-body flash. There's a lot of lighting, and a few were going without flash, but a little fill flash makes a world of difference. Most everything here was done at ISO 800 f/3.2 to ensure a lit background. In hindsight maybe shooting at f/4 would have been a little bit better sometimes.

Mmmmmm, Auto Show.

Sunday afternoon was very tiring, indeed. You had to work to move from one "car" location to the next. Your photos turned out well! I am still converting mine from Raw format to jpg. Learned alot from going and taking photos. Especially, since all I used was a 50mm f1.4 nikon lens on my D50 with the SB800 flash unit. So much more learning to do when we buy expensive equipment. Kinda wished I had taken my cheapo digital camera instead, hehehe.

Hey Max, great pics! ;)

I also have the Tamron 17-50mm lens! It's a fantastic lens with super sharp images--I love it. I skipped the kit lens for my 400D and went with the Tamron instead!

Awesome.

Good photos Max. I was there bright and early Saturday morning and the sausage factory was running at full capacity. Feel free to check out my pics at:

Excellent pics, Max.

Do you think anyone ever looks at the cars?

Anyway great stuff, have you thought about doing a few model shoots!

Great pictures.

And maybe it's just my imagination, but the cutie in the white dress looks like she has to pee (I thought they only have to pose by the cars for 15 minutes of every hour, so that seems odd).

Did you delete my comment from this section?

absolutely fantastic...well done

Anton: Nice pics. Thanks for the link.

Jer: I think it's the other way around; they get 15 minutes total break time every hour. I saw a couple girls who just couldn't muster a look that I wanted to capture. I waited and waited for them to give me anything good but ended up moving on.

Nightmare Believer: I didn't delete any comments. However my webhost was having issues and it could have been lost. Or if you posted too many links it was sent to "moderation" (moderation=trash can).

Everyone Else: I'm glad you enjoyed the photoset.

Right, that's it, I'm going to Seoul!
You are a truly gifted photographer.

Hmm, interesting. At least they won't have to hold it for very long, though.

But anyway, thanks again for the photos.

wow, these got me throbbing, and i'm a girl! hope these ladies got many months of rent, utility, and designer handbags/clothes outta the job.

Good job Max,

Some cars showed up at
the Girls Show :)

Great shots as always.
Excellent entertainment.

Great photos, as always, Max.
I guess you're not getting sick of Korea yet.

Thanks for visiting my blog. Keep up the great work. :)

Thx for the quality photos!

Did you take a sidetrip to Heaven ;)

Max I stumbled across your page by accident but just spent an hour of my life enjoying your photos, not just the ones of the asian hotties. What do you do to finance your travels? I speculate that it has something to do with art or photograhy?
Great site, saved in my bookmarks, safe travels.

Your photos are AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Excellent photos. I lived in the Oakwood on top of COEX mall most of last year during a project, wandered down bored on a Sunday morning downstairs, walked into the Auto Salon 2006 out of innocent curiosity, and hardly could pick up my dropped jaws from the floor, phew, what a show. I realized with dismay that I had no camera on me, hence your blog was a wonderful way to bring back the memories, and so it is this year. I envy you being in Seoul. Greetings from HK (my home base). Carsten

HHHHHOOOOOTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! cars

nice boobs

Cool pics, but what about the cars? They look even cooler. You did take pictures of the cars didn't you? :)

huh, auto shows are always flowing with sexy girls. That's why photographers are very excited to come and see the "new cars"...hhhmmmm....
